The American Queen
Overview

The largest steamboat ever built, the grand American Queen is a gracious and elegant triumph of American ingenuity.

Although filled with today''s modern amenities, her rooms and accommodations display all the opulence of the American Victorian era. Glistening woodwork, fresh flowers and antiques adorn her interior spaces. Outside, lacy filigree evokes memories of the many stately river steamers that preceded her and so inspired her designers.

While on board, you can select a volume from the vast collection in the Mark Twain Gallery, the boat''s library. Or enjoy a sing-along in the Main Deck Lounge, and then tap your toes to a lavish show in the two-deck-tall Grand Saloon, the most elegant showplace on the river.

Combining the best of the old and the new, this beautiful lady of the river epitomizes the grace and grandeur that has made Steamboating a cherished American tradition for more than two centuries. One voyage and you''ll see why.

The palatial Grand Saloon is two decks tall and resembles the small town opera houses of the 19th century with details modeled after Ford's Theater. Rousing musical revues and high-energy cabaret from our immensely talented and energetic cast take center stage each evening. College on the Mississippi® performances bring authentic regional music to life with rich historical context. After the show, dance and swing to stellar performances of jazz, blues, ragtime, bluegrass, country and rock and roll in the handsome Engine Room Bar, or join in a lively piano sing-a-long in the Main Deck Lounge.

As history plays such a large part of your cruise experience, our Riverlorian is onboard for each voyage to impart the history and lore of the river on which you are cruising. In addition to our ever-present Riverlorian, we often feature a diverse lineup of guest historians who take to the stage and transport you to another era. Sinking into your bed, lulled by the rhythm of the paddlewheel and soothed by the softness of fine linens, you are the traveler who feels very much at home.

Steamboating on rivers that are the lifeblood of our heartland is an all-American experience - as American as Mark Twain and Louis Armstrong, the Fourth of July and the Kentucky Derby.
